We are on the final chapter of our 2025 cybersecurity guidebook and this chapter focuses on cybersecurity awareness training. It is so important that you are prioritizing education and training within your firm. It seems like almost every day now we see a new headline that some sort of security breach has happened. Often it is because someone clicked on a link, whether through e-mail, text, or got a phone call, and revealed all their information. Firms of all sizes are finding themselves in the midst of security incidents which is why you need to be training your employees early on to recognize when those attempts happen. By doing so, your firm will be able to start operating safer and more secure.

We believe that you should be prioritizing education and training all staff on the importance of cybersecurity, not just certain staff members. Most firms, we see, will do annual security videos where your employees will have to sit down for hours to watch them. The hard part is, that attorneys are losing out on billable time so they will refuse to take it, paralegals feel swamped with work so they will keep pushing it off, that is why, at Clear Guidance Partners, we do monthly test phishing e-mails. What that looks like is we will send a phishing email, and if the employee deletes it or reports it as phishing, we succeeded. However, if they do click on the link, that is when they will do the remedial training. When you correctly teach your staff, they begin to subconsciously be on the lookout for strange links, odd texts, or weird phone calls. Taking the power out of the hacker’s hands and putting it back into yours.
