  • Always negotiate, especially on critical terms.

  • Don’t sign more than a 1 year agreement. Few companies will not offer this.

  • Re-negotiate at renewal time, this is when you have the most leverage.

  • Ensure SLAs have financial penalties and termination options.

  • Ask for notification requirements such as breach notices.

  • Be as specific as possible, especially regarding functionality and timelines.
